The funniest thing ever. Well, maybe not the funniest, but pretty close! I gave Lily a Hershey Kiss this morning and she was just kind of half chewing/ half sucking on it, and making all kinds of noises. So, the boys came over to laugh at her and make the noises with her. Well, she started to spit out the half chewed/half sucked Kiss. I was so fortunate to have been watching the whole time!!!!! Anyways, it went completely silent as Lily was spitting out the chocolate. I was watching the boys faces and they registered nothing but pure disgust. So I said, "Lily, are you eating poop?" Well Lex's eyes started watering and he started coughing that gag cough and got up and ran away, gag coughing the whole time. Liam just sat there watching. I think he was too shocked to move. So I laughed and told the boys I was just kidding and that it was just some chocolate that I gave her (I had to say something before Lex threw up all over). It was incredibly funny. I think it was the faces that did it. I love the pure, unwavering innocence of kids! I love that they can still believe that someone would eat their own poop!

We just had the best conversation at dinner! Lex (of course it was Lex) asked if there were castles in the world that hadn't been destroyed. I'm not sure which History Channel show has been on lately, but whatever. Anyways, we told him that there were still non-destroyed castles. He asked if there were still kings and queens living in them. Cort told him that, yes, there were still royalty living in castles, but rich people owned most of them. So I asked, "Wouldn't it be so cool if we lived in a castle?" Lex said, "Yes, and Dad can be King and you can be Queen." I told him that he could be our prince, and Cort told Liam he could be the princess. Oh yes, we build up our children at every opportunity. So Lex said, "Noooooooo Dad, Liam is a boy! Boys aren't princesses! Lily is the princess. Liam can be a knight ... but he will be a good knight, not like one of those Lamanites!" Get it ... Lama-night? It took us a moment so I will just assume that I need to help everyone else out. I truly wish I could end the story there and let everyone think how spiritual and good our family must be... but the story goes on. So, Cort said, "Wouldn't it be cool if it was a naked castle and everyone walked around naked?" We all laughed and Lex said, "We can't walk around naked, Dad, that's just silly!" So Cort, instead of dropping it says, "Yeah, and we can have naked nannies too!" I'm giving him a dirty look and he's smiling at me as Lex saves the day and says, "Dad, Grandma is a nanny and she can walk around naked with us!" Yeah Cort, there's your naked nanny!!!!!! Geez!!!!!!!!!!!

The Nipple Conversation

So, Lex just took off his jammies and said, "This hurts when I rub it." I looked over and he was rubbing his little nipple. I said, "Oh, that's your nipple. I wonder why it hurts? Come here and let me look at it." So he comes over and I make sure everything is in place, without leprosy or cancer or anything of that nature. It all looks fine so I tell him so. He then informs me that boys have nipples and women have boobs. So I say, "No, actually women and men both have nipples, women just get boobs with theirs." Am I really having this conversation? So Lex says, "I wish ..." (pause) I'm thinking, Oh here it comes. My 5-year-old is going to say the same thing his dad says. Something to the effect of how he wished he had boobs too .... But instead he says, "I wish my nipples were as big as Dad's. He has BIG nipples. Maybe when I'm a teenager ...." I guess he could aspire for worse things?

LILY'S WALKING!!!!

I can't believe she's walking! She's just up and decided to do it. What are we going to do? I am really happy, too, that I figured out how to get this movie on here!!! So, I sound like a freak and am now wondering if that's what I sound like to other human ears, but just turn down your volume and enjoy Lillers show. What a cute little toad!

Lily's eating pancakes!!!!!! I can't even begin to say how happy that makes me! I thought we'd be stuck in the baby food phase forever. SHe has taken after her brothers for sure, sort of! They loved "little pancakes" from the first moment they laid eyes on them. It's taken her a little bit longer, but who cares?! As long as she likes them!

Liam enjoying his pancakes and yogurt. I unfortunately got him in mid-chew, but it was hard not to. He just took down half the box of pancakes and 2 go-gurts!

Lex has found ANOTHER loose tooth. It's one of the top middle ones. That makes 2 more loose teeth! He told me that he wants the Tooth Fairy to bring him a billion dollars. I said ok. Keep working Cort!

Caution Tape

So, I was taking Lex to gymnastics today and we drove past some construction - surprise, surprise! Lex pointed out that they were using red caution tape. So he and Liam discussed for a little bit the new red caution tape. After about 1/4 of a mile Lex tells me, "I'm really glad to see the new red caution tape. I was getting pretty tired of the yellow." I guess that I never really noticed, but I'm happy to see red too!

Lily is 1!!!!!

I can't believe my baby girl has turned 1! I just had her for crying out loud! She has even attempted to walk. I am pretty sure I am done having kids, but I am starting to feel sad as I watch my baby grow up. I have started to miss those early baby things - like their teeny little bodies nestled up against mine, their smell, middle of the night feedings, laying still while I change diapers, and the real crying - not the fake drama ones I get now. My Lily is sure teaching me a lot about little girls too and how they are sooooo different from little boys. She is definitely a little drama princess! She is just getting too big too fast.
Her birthday party was a lot of fun. Cortney BBQ'd some ribs and chicken and there was a lot of food to go with it. We all ate very well. Lily was funny with her cake. She would not touch it, nor did she even like it! I stuck her hand in the frosting hoping that it would encourage her, but it just made her upset. She did not like how the frosting felt! I didn't feel too sad about her not making the normal giant frosting mess that usually goes along with a one year birthday!

1st lost tooth! May 6, 2008

Oh yeah! It was gross. It all happened within a few short hours. Lex was trying to eat an apple and told me that his tooth hurt. When I looked at it I discovered it was loose. It wasn't even that loose! It was the chicken noodle soup for lunch that did it. Don't ask me what in the soup did it, but it was gone. There was a lot of blood. Lex was trying to be excited because that's how I was acting, but I don't think he was convinced that losing a tooth was that cool. Anyways, the Tooth Fairy brought him $1 - which I thought was quite a bit. I don't even have $1! So we went to Target and he bought a ring pop for 50 cents all by himself. He thought he was pretty big. I wonder what happened to the other 50 cents? His other tooth is growing in already, and it's coming in sideways. The Tooth Fairy is going to need to start bringing more money so we can pay for braces!

Halloween 2007

The Ninjas - and the blurred, squirmy Ladybug!!

So I'm a little late - it's almost next Halloween, but it's better late than never, right? As a side note, both boys thought they were incredibly cool. In fact, they still wear their ninja costumes. Liam just wore his to the store the other day. The swords went the way of the trash can very shortly after Halloween, but I'm not complaining!
