The Nipple Conversation

So, Lex just took off his jammies and said, "This hurts when I rub it." I looked over and he was rubbing his little nipple. I said, "Oh, that's your nipple. I wonder why it hurts? Come here and let me look at it." So he comes over and I make sure everything is in place, without leprosy or cancer or anything of that nature. It all looks fine so I tell him so. He then informs me that boys have nipples and women have boobs. So I say, "No, actually women and men both have nipples, women just get boobs with theirs." Am I really having this conversation? So Lex says, "I wish ..." (pause) I'm thinking, Oh here it comes. My 5-year-old is going to say the same thing his dad says. Something to the effect of how he wished he had boobs too .... But instead he says, "I wish my nipples were as big as Dad's. He has BIG nipples. Maybe when I'm a teenager ...." I guess he could aspire for worse things?
